Friday 17 May 2024 Students work with former Birmingham Poet Laureate and renowned performance poet 60 lucky students had the opportunity to work with former Birmingham Poet Laureate Richard ('Dreadlockalien') Grant and renowned performance poet Alan ('Kurly') McGeachie on a 4-week 'Memorhyme' project to improve our students' literacy skills through the use of spoken word poetry and digital platforms.

Tuesday 14 May 2024 U13 Cricket: Aldridge vs QMGS Aldridge U13 cricket team got their season off to a fantastic start with a hard-fought victory against Queen Mary's Grammar School on Monday evening. The team played excellent with a special mention to J. Close hitting 36 not out and S. Wicker who took 3 wickets and 4 catches.

Friday 10 May 2024 U15 Walsall School Cricket Competition Congratulations to our Under 15 Boys Cricket team who won the Walsall Schools Cricket competition, beating out Walsall Academy and Pool Hayes convincingly!

Wednesday 8 May 2024 Year 7 Student Completes Race for Life S. Smith (Year 7) completed the 5k, race for life mud run at the weekend. He raised £250 for Cancer Research UK. He embraced every obstacle with enthusiasm. A great effort for a very worth while cause.

Wednesday 1 May 2024 Year 12 Students Visit Oriel College, The University of Oxford Year 12 students from Aldridge School enjoyed an interesting day at Oriel College, The University of Oxford on the 30th April 2024.

Monday 29 April 2024 Year 8/9 Girls Football Success Congratulations to our Year 8/9 girls football team who have made it through to the final of the West Midlands County Cup. The final will take place on Wednesday 01st May.

Friday 26 April 2024 Year 8 Smoking Cessation Workshop Year 8 took part in a Smoking Cessation play and workshop on Thursday; there were important messages communicated about the dangers of tobacco and our students were engaged and enthusiastic throughout. We look forward to hosting more of these events in the future

Wednesday 20 March 2024 'We need to Talk About Masculinity' - a Collaboration between Aldridge School, Catcher Media and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. We Need To Talk About Masculinity is a unique collaboration between Aldridge School students working with a media company, Catcher Media, and the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. Students helped to devise and acted in a hard-hitting drama about healthy and so-called ’toxic’ masculinity. It’s a highly relatable story set in the school and filmed over three days.

Tuesday 19 March 2024 Fabulous evening of music at Aldridge School's Spring Concert Last night the Music Department, Mr Turner, Mrs Dudley and Mrs Gardner led the talented students at Aldridge School in a musical feast which included pieces by Beethoven, Elgar and songs attributed to Meatloaf. The players ranged from our Sixth Form to Year 7s and included choral numbers, jazz band, solo performances, and full orchestras.

Wednesday 13 March 2024 School Golf Competition L. Jenkins (Year 11) competed in the schools golf tournament on 11th March 2024 at Hollinwell. He played so well in such tough conditions, wind, damp, drizzle, and the ground was sodden. Unfortunately he didn’t come away a winner in the tournament but a winner in our eyes. He played against an 18 year old and 16 year old and he really held his own.

Wednesday 13 March 2024 Staffordshire County Cricket Finals After winning the southern section of the Staffordshire County Indoor cricket competitions (the only comprehensive school in the county to qualify with two teams), both Aldridge U13 and U15 teams competed in the final's day at Aldersley Leisure Village. Our students competed against the best teams in the Staffordshire County from Queen Mary's Grammar, Wolverhampton Grammar, Newcastle Under Lyme School, Painsley, Blythe Bridge and Alleyne's school. The boys competed brilliantly with some amazing individual and team performances. U13's finished 5th in Staffordshire and U15's finished 3rd in Staffordshire. We are so proud of every one of them and are excited to see them perform in the outdoor season this summer!

Thursday 7 March 2024 Road Safety Week The UK government has been running road safety campaigns for more than 75 years. Since 2000 THINK! has been the government’s designated road safety campaign. Their campaigns have involved encouraging the use of seat belts, to tackling excessive speed, drink and drugs, and the use of mobiles at the wheel. In the decade that followed the conception of THINK!, road deaths in the UK reduced by 46%.

Wednesday 6 March 2024 Year 5 pupils visit Aldridge School for a World Book Day Quiz As Dr. Seuss once said: “The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr. Seuss’ opinion of books really did apply to our Year 5 Bookworms in a recent World Book Day Quiz.

Wednesday 6 March 2024 Warwick Castle Rewards Trip On the 19th, 20th and 21st February students enjoyed a somewhat wet visit to Warwick Castle. This was the first whole school Rewards Trip of the academic year. Students got to show off their battle skills, watch a bird of prey show, be scared to death in the Dungeons and enjoy the history that Warwick Castle has to offer.

Wednesday 6 March 2024 U15 Boys Cricket On the 27th February, our U15 boys cricket team travelled to Aldersley Leisure village to take part in a Staffordshire Indoor Cricket Competition. They faced tough opposition from schools such as Highfields, Wolverhampton Grammar, The Royal School, and Queen Marys Grammar.

The aim has always been to develop awareness, enthusiasm and excitement about students future pathways both post 16 and post 18 leading into their adult lives.

Thursday 22 February 2024 U13 Indoor Cricket County Championships Aldridge U13 Indoor Cricket team attended the South Staffordshire County indoor cricket championships at Aldersley Leisure Village. The boys were absolutely fantastic winning all three games in their group (vs Brewood Middle school, Highfields and Queen Mary's Grammar) before beating Sir Graham Balfour in the final by 7 wickets. The team now qualify for Staffordshire finals day at Aldersley next month. The students were exemplary with how they behaved and competed and were a real credit to Aldridge School.

Wednesday 31 January 2024 Slam Poetry Packs a Punch with Year 8 Pupils at Aldridge School Young poets in Year 8 got down to some serious Slam Poetry with visiting performance poet Giovanni ‘Spoz’ Esposito.

Friday 19 January 2024 Inter-house Castle Competition - Winner Congratulations to E. Sanders (Year 7) for his brilliant entry to our 'Inter-house Castle Competition' which was judged on 15th January. We had over 40 amazing entries this year including cake castles, a 3D printed castle and some on Minecraft. Our winner not only made a wonderful model castle but also included an informative booklet on castles as well.

Tuesday 16 January 2024 Aldridge School Awards Evening On Thursday 11th January we held our first awards evening since before the pandemic. The evening was to celebrate students achievements and we handed out over 100 awards. Thank you to all the staff involved in the evening and those who came to support our students.

Wednesday 10 January 2024 Sporting Fixture Results - Autumn Term 2 Our sports teams have had another successful half term in their fixtures, clocking up over 50 wins. Our students and staff have done brilliantly to fulfill so much. Well done all.

Wednesday 20 December 2023 Aldridge School Choir Performs at Carol Service A Christmas Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was held at St Mary of the Angels’ Church on Monday 18th December. Traditional favourites along with some modern songs were sung by our three choirs from all year groups. The first Aldridge Carol Service was held in December 1959. Other than one year of bad snow it has been continuous ever since, including the ‘online’ years!

Friday 15 December 2023 Table Tennis Success Three table tennis teams from Aldridge went to Streetly School to compete in the regional table tennis competition. They competed against teams from Streetly, St Francis, QMGS, QMHS and Walsall academy. All teams performed exceptionally well throughout the competition, with our KS3 A-team playing in the competition for the third year in a row and our KS3 B-team (made up of mostly year 7’s) played in their first ever competition.

Monday 11 December 2023 Aldridge Students Spread Christmas Joy Following our Christmas card competition and the production of some wonderful designs we contacted the local Hawthorne’s Care Home in Aldridge and asked if there were any residents who would appreciate a card this year. The Wellbeing Director sent us 15 names and students in Year 7 wrote detailed yule time letters to them as part of our commitment to engage with all the people in our local community.

Friday 1 December 2023 Christmas Tree Festival - Decorations made by Year 7 Students Year 7 students have been busy making Christmas decorations for this years entry to the Christmas Tree Festival held at Aldridge Methodist Church.

Friday 1 December 2023 Year 7 through to 5th Round of National Cup Our Year 7 football team competed in the 4th round of the ESFA cup vs a strong St John’s Middle (Bromsgrove) school team. The first half was very even with both teams having chances, but Aldridge took the lead through T Attridge with a well taken finish. A mix up in defence allowed St John’s to sneak an equaliser before half time.
