Year 7 and 8 students get stuck into books!

Young bookworms helped to add a new chapter to the school’s fundraising activities when they raised £1377.70 in a mammoth Readathon.

Students in Year 7 and 8 read hundreds of books to raise money for a very good cause. Money from the sponsored “Read for Good” will be spent on an extensive hospital programme for seriously ill children, which provides mobile bookcases packed with new books, and author visits to every major children's hospital across the country.

Since 2007 Aldridge School has raised £31,975 by encouraging children to take part in its annual Readathon.

J Burns, Year 8 pupil, said, “I loved taking part! It encouraged me to read more books and gave me the opportunity to help children who are less fortunate than me.”
