Over 120 prizes given to Year 7 pupils during Book Week

As part of Aldridge School’s annual Book Week, a special Year 7 prize-giving ceremony was held, at which over 120 prizes were presented to winners of Book Week competitions.

We were very pleased to welcome local author and historian, Jennifer Blake, to present the prizes.

Our pupils were really inspired by Jennifer’s visit. Pupils commented, “It was brilliant to have real authors visit us for Book Week. Meeting real people who have interesting careers is important to help us think about what we might want to do when we are older.”

Jennifer took time to speak with pupils about the experiences of the African Caribbean communities in Walsall since the 1950s as described in her book “Through Sweat, Tears and Triumphs”.
