Year 7 fall short in round 5 of the ESFA Cup
Year 7 football team fell agonisingly short against a strong St Peter’s team 3-2 in the 5th round of the ESFA cup. The team played exceptionally well dominating the game from start to finish, but with a couple of things failing to go our way we ended losing narrowly.
St Peter’s got the first goal with a hopeful boot of the ball from the halfway line which somehow found its way into the net before doubling their advantage in the first half. A superb headed goal from L. Attridge halved the deficit before half time with Aldridge clearly on top.
Aldridge continued to press for the equaliser dominating the second half, which saw the opposition goalkeeper make countless saves as well as some last ditch defending on the line. St Peter’s restored their advantage from a corner, before T. Machisa followed in to make it 3-2 with around 5 minutes to go. Aldridge pressed and pressed but unfortunately couldn’t force the equaliser.
It was a tough way to finish our journey in the ESFA cup but the boys can be extremely proud of their efforts. We will be back stronger next year!
