Year 10 Careers Event - Mock Interview Day

Year 10 took part in a Careers day designed to start getting them work ready. During the morning students completed 3 sessions on CV writing, interview skills and employability skills led by our amazing volunteers.

Students then received a 15 minute, one to one interview with a volunteer in the afternoon to show off their CV’s and test out their newly acquired interview skills.

Student feedback on the day included:

‘I believe that the program implemented for the mock interviews was a great way to introduce us to the process of what getting a job is like and what we have to do in the future.’

‘The morning sessions were helpful and fun as we got to discuss openly different qualities that are needed for jobs. The interviews were really nice as the interviewers gave feedback on how we did and how we could further develop answers’.

Lorrette Harris from HMRC provided the following feedback:

‘I had a great day from the welcome to good bye!  I thought the structure for the day was great. Loved the interaction with the pupils in the classrooms and the mock interviews where pupils shared CVs they had prepared early providing opportunity to discuss and help them expand further.’

An enjoyable day had by all and some essential life skills learnt.
