Careers Event – Yr 10 In-Comm Trip celebrating National Apprenticeships Week 2025
To celebrate National Apprenticeships Week a group of Year 10 students went to In-Comm Training Provider in Aldridge to take part in a STEM activity day. The students were given the opportunity to explore the site and get an insight into the different companies that send their apprentices to In-Comm, as well as some of the apprenticeship jobs on offer. They had a talk from Brandauer about the roles their apprentices have and the progression routes they offer before seeing some of the apprentices from a variety of companies carrying out their education.
Following this, the students were given a short talk about what they could do before being set a challenge of designing and building a device to move a ping pong ball 200mm horizontally and 200mm vertically. They were shown how to use pneumatics and given a variety of equipment they could use. The students were then given a talk by two of the current apprentices from Collins Aerospace and Dunlop, before they judged the students’ efforts. The apprentices were really surprised and impressed with the level of accuracy and lean manufacturing the students showed.
A great day of learning for our students and a big thank you to In-Comm, Brandauer, Collins Aerospace and Dunlop for providing the opportunity.
