Assessment
Assessment is our way of understanding how well your child is grasping the knowledge and skills outlined in the curriculum. It’s not just about formal tests; it includes various activities that teachers use to gather evidence of your child’s understanding. Every lesson teachers are actively assessing your childs work in many ways including circulation of the classroom, whole class questioning and individual questioning. This helps us judge how well they are learning what they need to know, do and how best teachers can help them to progress and develop important knowledge and skills.
Quality Marked Feedback (QMF)
At Aldridge School, we place a strong emphasis on providing quality marked feedback to our students. This approach ensures that each student receives personalised and constructive comments on their work, helping them understand their strengths and areas for improvement. By focusing on specific, actionable feedback, we aim to foster a growth mindset and encourage continuous learning. We believe that this method not only enhances academic performance but also builds confidence and resilience in our students. We appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of this feedback at home.
Summative Assessment (SA)
Summative assessments are formal tests used at Aldridge School to measure how well students have understood key knowledge and skills. These assessments help teachers track progress, identify areas for improvement, and support students in reaching their full potential. Results of Summative Assessments are recorded and used to guide future teaching and learning and the reporting of progress to parents.
Subject Assessment Calendars
Each subject has an assessment calendar, with Summative Assessment and Quality Marked Feedback activities planned based on the number of lessons. These assessment calendars will be available to view shortly.
