School Governors

School Governors set the school’s aims and policies together with the Headteacher, who is responsible for day to day management and operation of the school.

Governor responsibilities include monitoring and planning the school budget, staff recruitment, making sure the national curriculum is followed and that the school provides quality education for all pupils, including those with special educational needs.

The structure of Governance at Aldridge School

The academy is governed by a governing body who are directors of the company constituted under the articles of the academy trust.

Under the articles of association a Trust board was established to to oversee the academy. The trust board consists of six members to whom the governing body report.

The Governing body consists of 12 individuals plus the headteacher.  Governors are appointed in the following categories:

6 Governors appointed by the trust board
1 Local Authority Governor
3 Parent Governors
2 Staff Governors
Governors are appointed for four years.

The full governing body meets three times a year.

The governing body has two permanent sub committees that meet at least six times per year, these are:

Provision – overseeing Personnel, Property, Health & Safety and Finance.

Outcomes – overseeing Curriculum & Development

The governing body also forms two adhoc committees when required these are

Discipline – overseeing pupil sanctions and exclusions

Pay – overseeing staff appraisal, pay and progression
