On the 24th and 25th of September year 7 students took part in a Religious Studies enrichment day organised by Miss Hegarty, where they addressed the question ‘am I doing enough to help others?’. The days focused on Poverty and Fairtrade. Students looked at what Fairtrade is and how they can support it. Visiting speaker Marnie Richards, who is the Developing Young People Co-ordinator for the Midlands Co-op, spoke to students about how the Co-op was established and their commitment to helping traders in poorer countries.
Students then went back to classrooms and looked at how them themselves could make a difference to children living in poverty around the world.
At the end of the day, students had lots of fun working in groups to design a new Fairtrade chocolate bar. The winning chocolate bar was designed by Kai Jones, Emily Hitchman, Laviza Ahmed and Sabah Hussain
