Engineering Education Scheme

A team of 5 year 12 students were invited to take part in the Engineering Education Scheme which is run annually all around the country. The team worked alongside a local company designing a real industrial product. Our team worked with EATON Electrical Systems Ltd based in Aldridge and had to design a product that would assist with the application of an ‘O’ ring onto a nylon plug.

A Mr Paul J. Arthur, an engineer who works for EATON Electricals and Aldridge staff have mentored the selected group of students since October:

The students designed and produced a fully working prototype and on the 2nd May were invited to present the final design before 5 judges, together with 64 other schools from the Midlands.

All students graduated as an Industrial Cadets at Gold Level, however, our team Aldridge were also nominated after an excellent assessment for the main award entitled “Innovation” and came joint 2nd with a school from Rugby.
