Aldridge School’s top Year 10s have enjoyed an exclusive trip down to Newnham College Cambridge, as part of a programme with the school’s Link Colleges at Oxbridge.
The first leg of the programme took students to a day at Newnham College Cambridge, hosted by the Outreach Officer and current Cambridge students. The day began with seminars focusing on subject choices at A Level and how to select the best university for you. The students also investigated the different societies/ extra-curricular activities on offer at Cambridge, and were particularly interested to discover the Quidditch society and Jail Break charity event!
The students were then given a personal tour around the college buildings and grounds, getting a taste for what everyday life is really like at Cambridge.
The Y10s wrapped up the day with a lecture from PHD academic, Geraldine Baekelandt, on the emerging science of Nanotechnology. Giving them an insight into the range of subject choices on offer when it comes to studying at Cambridge University.
The second leg of the programme will see the same students returning to Oxbridge, this time visiting Oriel College Oxford in the Autumn term 2018.
